Safe Handling operates the largest transloading rail yards in Maine and western Pennsylvania and we offer the following services:
- Class 1 Railroad Access
- Our Maine yards are served daily by the St. Lawrence & Atlantic Railroad (SLR), on haulage agreement with the Canadian National Railroad (CN). Connection to:
- Pan Am Railways at Danville Junction, ME (5 miles)
- Our Pennsylvania facility is served daily by South West Pennsylvania Railroad (SWP) connecting to:

- Auburn Headquarters location = 130 rail cars
- Auburn, Maine Port of Auburn location = 90 railcars
- New Stanton, PA location = 145 railcars
- Rail Car Heating and Temperature Monitoring –
- Low pressure steam
- Re-circulated hot water
- Re-circulated thermal oil (in Maine yard only)
- Rail Car Cleaning – we offer tank car caustic wash and rinse services for a wide variety of difficult products.
- Blending/Diluting – of liquid products to allow for long-distance transport of concentrated product and regional delivery of diluted, higher-volume product.
- Inventory Management – Our team can handle complete logistics including vendor-managed inventory for end-users.
